Some of Merry Rosenfield's guinea pig designs available for purchase to benefit Orange County Cavy Haven.

An animal fanatic with a love of jewelry is doing great things for the guinea pig community. Merry Rosenfield of Clearwater, Florida has been creating animal inspired jewelry for her company, The Magic Zoo, since 1989. Her designs in sterling silver, 14k gold, pewter and enamel are inspired by both wild and domestic animals. She is currently holding an online benefit to support Orange County Cavy Haven.

In the past, Rosenfield has donated her one-of-a-kind jewelry designs to the ASPCA and her artistic pieces have been sold exclusively in the ASPCA online store. Rosenfield has designed jewelry for other nonprofit organizations such as The Marshall Legacy Institute and the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.

Each order includes a charming handcrafted pewter guinea pig keychain for free.

How did she get involved with this unique form of artistry? Rosenfield explains on her website, “My first love was singing traditional music from the British Isles, but somewhere along the way I was seduced by the idea of making animal jewelry. I know that’s seems an incomprehensible switch, but I have always loved animals and about 25 years ago it just seemed like a good idea.”

The Magic Zoo’s online benefit to support OC Cavy Haven will continue through May 20 and Rosenfield is donating 17% of all sales to OCCH. The donation includes her whimsical guinea pig jewelry, however, you do not have to order guinea pig jewelry to benefit the rescue. Each order includes a charming handcrafted pewter guinea pig keychain for free. The benefit applies to all of her designs. She has hundreds of animals and styles to choose from.

Visit The Magic Zoo’s online store for more information about this and other events benefiting animals or join her on Facebook or her Blog for future updates.
