Maddie’s Matchmaker Adoptathon Features Cavy House Guinea Pig Rescue
On June 9-10, 2012, adoptions will be free to qualified adopters at dozens of shelters and rescue groups in Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco counties.
The Adoptathon is the nation’s largest two-day adoption event and aims to raise awareness of shelter animals and their need to find loving new homes. They also wish to spotlight the amazing efforts of shelter and rescue organizations in San Francisco and neighboring counties. They’re expecting more than sixty shelters and rescues in 80 different locations throughout the weekend. There is a great interview with the founders discussing the upcoming event at KTVU.com.
“Who is this Maddie,” you might ask? Maddie was a spirited Miniature Schnauzer that “inspired her guardians to start a charitable foundation, Maddie’s Fund®, in her name,” according to Maddie’s official website. Maddie’s Fund promotes pet adoption from shelters and rescues in three bay area counties.
